Understanding brand codes in PDM

This article will help you differentiace the brands in PDM

Brand codes are essential for managing and identifying brands within the PDM Automotive platform. This article explains how to locate these codes and understand their representation in exports.

The internal brand code and the Autocare brand code are both used to identify brands in PDM Automotive, but their usage depends on the context:

In PDM, two types of brand codes are used

  1. AutoCare Code: This is a standardized code used across the automotive industry. It's the industry-standard identifier (AAIAID) used for broader compatibility and data exchange

  2. Internal Brand Code: This is PDM's internal code. Note that this is not a sub-brand code. This is PDM's own identifier for a brand

How to Find Brand Codes

To locate the brand codes for the brands your receiver is authorized for, follow these steps:

  1. Go to settings - Brands.

  2. You can check Internal Code and Brand Code columns

  3. Or you can Export the brands.

These codes can also be used with the API for further integrations or operations.

Common Misconceptions About Brand Codes

  • Internal Brand Codes Are Not Sub-Brands: The internal brand code is solely for internal identification and does not represent a sub-brand.

By understanding and utilizing these codes effectively, you can streamline brand management and ensure accurate data handling within the PDM Automotive platform.
