Brand Field Settings

This article will help you use the Brand Field feature

Brand Fields are user-defined fields that can be assigned to one or more brands.

They allow you to add custom values to a brand, such as an internal name, website name, alias, ranking, or another value used by your team or API workflow.

These fields are created at the account level and then assigned to the brands that need them.

For example, Brand Fields can be used to:

  • Add an internal brand name that is different from the brand name in PDM

  • Create a brand alias

  • Assign a priority ranking to brands

  • Group or classify brands

When to use Brand Fields?

Brand Fields are most helpful for accounts that manage multiple brands and need a way to organize or identify those brands outside of the standard brand name

A common use case is brand prioritization. For example, if an account has several brands and uses an API integration to pull product data, a Brand Field can be used to assign a priority ranking to each brand.

This allows the receiving system to identify which brands should be processed first.

Another common use case is creating a brand alias. If the brand name in PDM differs from the internal brand name, a Brand Field can store the alternate value.

Creating Brand Fields

To create a Brand Field:

  1. Go to Settings and click on Brands Fields.

  2. Click Add Brand Fields.

  3. Enter the name of the Brand Field.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Assign the field to the desired brands.

  6. Click on Save

After creating a Brand Field, you must assign it to the brands where it should be used.

A Brand Field does not automatically apply to all brands unless it is assigned. This allows you to control which brands use each field.

Adding Brand Fields through imports

Brand Field values can be managed through import using the Brand Settings page.

When Brand Fields are created, they are automatically included in the Brand Settings export template. You can use this template to add or update Brand Field values in bulk.

To update Brand Field values by import:

  1. Go to the Brand Settings page.

  2. Export the Brand Settings template.

  3. Enter or update the values for the Brand Fields in the template.

  4. Import the completed file back into PDM.

  5. Double-check if the brands where assinged to the Brand Field

Brand Fields are available through the PDM Product API. This allows API integrations to reference the custom values assigned to each brand.

Contact support for API integration details and to ensure proper setup for your use case.
