How to move data between brands

This article will help you copy data from one brand to another

Updated this week

If you want to move or copy data in bulk from one brand to another, you can use Excel Export and Import.

Step 1: Export Data

  1. From the brand containing the parts or segments to be moved, use the Import/Export menu and select Export.

  2. Export the Excel file containing all relevant segments for your transfer.

Step 2: Edit the File and Save

  1. Open the exported Excel file.

  2. Locate the Brand columns and update all entries to reflect the target brand.

  3. Copy the target brand code.

  4. Update the brand code in the file. You can use Excel's Find and Replace feature to update all instances of the old brand code to the new one throughout the file/tabs

  5. Save the file.

  6. Keep a backup of the original exported file to prevent accidental loss of original data.

If the Part numbers have applications, remove the App ID values associated with the previous brand, having these can cause import errors.

Step 3: Import the File

  1. Navigate to the Import/Export menu for the target brand and select Import.

  2. Select the segments you're importing

  3. If creating new part numbers, open Advanced Import Options and select Create New Item. If updating existing part numbers, this step can be skipped.

  4. Choose the edited file and upload it.

Step 4: Verify Import Success

After importing, check the Part Numbers in All Products segment for the target brand to confirm that new part numbers and segments have been created.

If any errors occur, use the error log provided in the import report for troubleshooting.

You can do this process with other formats (PIES/ACES). Just make sure the brand matches the one you're working on.
